10.2 Continual Improvement
Relevant Definitions:
Continual Improvement: | recurring activity to enhance performance |
The standard requires that continual improvement is embedded into the system.
This is straight forward in that the document review/management review/internal audit would evaluate the effectiveness, currency, and awareness of the existing management system. Non conformity correction plans, or plans for dealing with modified services, would be evidence of continual improvement.
Likewise, improvement in performance results, increasing objectives and targets, and expanding the scope could all be viewed as continual improvement.
Additionally, more effective communications and engagement, improved competency in the team in sustainability, and more sustainable sourcing could also be viewed as continual improvement.
It is acceptable for all issues not to be identified, all operational control not to be put in place, all measurement not to be done, for communications not to be complete or effective – if there are plans to improve this in the future.
