Event Overlay

Event overlay consists of all the bespoke signage, decore, one-off branding, unique festival elements  and temporary facilities/infrastructure which are brought to build the event.

Considerations fo revent overlay include the following:

  • Use local suppliers to reduce transport impact.
  • Store and re-use bespoke produced materials.
  • Ensure sustainability credential of materials and products used to produce signage, decor, props and sets.
  • Use FSC certified timber, and ensure contractors also use FSC certified timber.
  • Don’t use MDF.
  • Don’t use polystryene blocks.
  • Use low VOC paint.
  • Use low flush amenities.
  • Use energy efficient site cabins.

Infrastructure
Marquees, hoekers, circus tents, saddle spans and other structures used for temporary event infrastructure may have a considerable transport impact. As does staging, flooring, fencing, barricades, site cabins, amenities blocks and other large equipment.

Aethetics, practicality, reliability of the contractor, and price are all very important elements to making the final hiring decision. The distance travelled and total number of trucks and crew needed aarlso e aspects to put into the mix when deciding on what infrastucture to hire into an event.

A 7.5 tonne truck is going to put out 15kg of CO2 per 10km of driving (if full) compared with just over 2kg CO2 for an average sized car. So distance, number of trucks and tonnage all make a difference.

Ask what the transport implications are (distance, weights, number of trucks) for the big items being moved to the event site.
